GIZ EMPOWERS 17 LOCAL AUTHORITIES WITH COVID-19 HYGIENIC MATERIALS

17 Local Authorities have this month received various types of hygienic material to supplement their efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
The materials worth K2.098,100.50 have been donated by GIZ Decentralisation for Development programme (D4D) through the Association’s COVID-19 Advisory Centre for Local Authorities. The Centre was established in August 2020 with support from GIZ and USAID whose core objective is “to enhance the preparedness and capacity of local authorities in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Speaking during the hand over event on 20th July, 2021 at the COVID-19 Centre offices, LGAZ Executive Director Mr. Maurice Mbolela urged the recipient Local Authorities to reciprocate this gesture by ensuring that the material received is used for intended purposes.
D4D Programme Coordinator Dr. Wolff-Christian Peters also pledged GIZ’s continued support towards the local response to COVID-19.
Materials donated included: multi-surface disinfectants, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, surgical and KN95 facemasks, and hand washing bar soaps.
