The Local Government Association of Zambia (LGAZ) is holding a 3-day training workshop at Urban Bliss Hotel in Kabwe. The workshop is organised under the auspices of the Partnerships for Municipal Innovation - Women in Local Leadership (PMI-WILL) Project and is aimed at equipping selected local authorities with the relevant tools and knowledge on project proposal writing and gender responsive budgeting.
The training has drawn 50 participants from five local authorities, namely, Chifunabuli, Kafue, Kasama, Lunte and Nakonde Councils. This is part of PMI-WILL project’s efforts to strengthen capacities of selected local authorities to deliver inclusive, gender responsive municipal services.
The workshop was officiated by Kabwe Deputy Mayor, Councillor Kayombo Mihova, who was representing the Mayor, Councillor Patrick Chishala. Councillor Mihova emphasized the need to document best practices and lessons emanating from the project in order to facilitate knowledge sharing with the rest of the local authorities.
About PMI-WILL: This is a six-year (2021-2027) project aimed at enhancing the enjoyment of rights for women and girls, particularly those from marginalised groups in Zambia and four other countries, namely, Cambodia, Benin, Ghana, and Sri Lanka. In Zambia, the project is being implemented by LGAZ in collaboration with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) with financial support from the Canadian government.
