17 LocalAuthorities have this month received various types of hygienic material supplement their efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
The materials worthK2.098,100.50 have been donated by GIZ Decentralisation for Development programme (D4D) through the Association’s COVID-19 Advisory Centre for LocalAuthorities. The Centre was established in August 2020 with support from GIZ and USAID whose core objective is “to enhance the preparedness and capacity oflocial authorities in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Speaking during the hand over event on 20th July, 2021 at the COVID-19 Centre offices, LGAZExecutive Director Mr. Maurice Mbolela urged the recipient Local Authorities to reciprocate this gesture by ensuring that the material received is used for intended purposes.
D4D ProgrammeCoordinator Dr. Wolff-Christian Peters also pledged GIZ's continued support towards the local response to COVID-19.
Materials donated included: multi-surface disinfectants, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, surgical and KN95 face masks, and hand washing bar soaps.
