The Reducing Adolescent Pregnancy and new HIV Infections in Zambia (RAPHIZ) Project is currently undertaking a Deep Dive Action Planning Workshop at Mphangwe Motel in Katete, bringing together stakeholders from across the district. Participants include representatives from the Health Department, Education Department, District Administration, Community Development, Social Welfare, the private sector, faith-based organizations, community members, and adolescents.

This collaborative effort aims to strengthen Katete Town Council’s capacity to coordinate stakeholder initiatives and create a supportive environment for Adolescent-friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR), HIV, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and STI response management, advocacy, and programming. These efforts are essential to achieving sustained HIV epidemic control and ending AIDS by 2030.

In his opening remarks, Katete Town Council Chairperson, Councillor Fanwell Chama emphasized the importance of collaboration, highlighting that ensuring adolescents have access to the best information and services around SRHR requires a unified effort from all stakeholders.

The workshop will focus on enhancing the coordination of RAPHIZ project initiatives, improving access to strategic information for effective decision-making, and developing an integrated multisectoral district SRHR/HIV/STI/GBV Action Plan.

Today's presentations included:

(i) The National SRHR/HIV/GBV Situation Analysis by the National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council

(ii) The District Adolescent Health Situation Analysis by Katete District Health Office and;

(iii) The Results Framework for Action Planning by UNAIDS.

This workshop represents a crucial step towards building stronger systems and partnerships to support adolescent health and create resilient communities.
